| African Perspectives on American Thought... | African Perspectives on American Thought, Culture and Christianity. March 28 from 7:00-9:00pm, MVC campus. Join Pastor Kyama Mugambi and Matt Seadore for an evening exploring Western engagement in the African context. We will be exploring issues of thought, culture, and justice. We will also learn more about the African perspective on these issues. Come prepared to be encouraged, challenged, and ask questions. Kyama Mugambi is the lead pastor of Mavuno Downtown, a partner church to MVC, located in the urban center of Nairobi, Kenya. This church, made up primarily of young people just launching their careers, seeks to disciple the Kenyan leaders of tomorrow, today. |
| Car Care Day volunteers | February 20, 8:00am to 1:00pm, MVC Campus. Come and join us as we partner with a local business to help provide oil changes, minor detailing, and car washes to vehicles owned by single moms, widows, and others in need within our own congregation. You can volunteer to vacuum out the interiors of vehicles, or wash cars. |
| Habitat for Humanity work day | April 3, 7:45am to 3:00pm. We are looking for a team of at least a dozen people to join us in this empowering enterprise. You will be working alongside Habitat participants who log over 500 hours of labor to qualify to own their own home. The day includes a brief orientation to Habitat for Humanity, great fun working on a house, and lunch will be provided. No prior experience needed. This opportunity is open to everyone age 18 and older. Meet at the church parking lot at 7:45am and carpool together to the work site. |
| Sudan/Kenya Trip Prayer Partners | February 25-March 10. On February 25 we will be sending a team of 3 leaders from our church to Kenya and Sudan. Southern Sudan is in initial recovery stages from a generation of civil war, and human rights violations committed against her people. Our team will be coming alongside the community of Lebone with an aim of helping them self identify their greatest needs and then using development tools developed by Community Health Evangelism, empowering them to meet those needs in a sustainable way. Our team will also spend a number of days with our newest MVC supported missionaries, Chris and Irene Okuna, who are the Kenyan field directors for First Love International. While there they will see what God is doing in the slums of Kibera and in the newly developing orphanage in Karen. If you sign up to pray for this team you will receive a prayer guide that will enable you to pray for their travel, work, and safety each day they are on the front lines of mercy and justice. Be there with them through prayer! |
