Vince is doing very, very well. His surgery was 7 1/2 hours long. The doctor is 99% sure the tumor was not malignant, they will do a biopsy to confirm that. The doctor feels he got about 95% of the tumor and said it is very slow growing. The doctor was very pleased with the surgery. Vince was able to come home on Saturday. God is good and Vince is very blessed! The cancer has spread outside of the thyroid and is also in his lungs. He is being treated at Stanford.) Alex is feeling good but very tired and weak, he has no energy. He had a CT scan and would like prayer that it comes back clear, that they would not find a blood clot. He won't have the results until late March. He has been able to get off his pain medications and he is thankful for that. Barbara goes in tomorrow (March 10) to see if her blood counts are up. If they are not, she will need to have a blood transfusion on Thursday. She would like prayer that her counts would be up and that she won't need the transfusion, as there are side effects that go along with the transfusion. Cynthia's tumor is on her pituitary gland, thalamus gland and optic nerve. They won't know exactly what they are up against until they are in surgery. The doctor did say it will be a very sensitive surgery because of the location of the tumor. She has two appointments with specialists for their opinion and recommendation, one on March 12 and the other on March 31. She is feeling ok, still has the headaches but it is not as bad now that she is not straining to read. Lift Cynthia up in prayer healing. Pray that they would know exactly what path they are to choose for surgery. She can feel the prayer and knows God is with her because she is as calm as can be. This type of cancer has no cure, but can potentially be managed with extended chemo after remission.) John continues to go in Monday, Wednesday, and Fridays to have interferon shots. The biggest side affect is fatigue. He is able to be up and around but needs to rest throughout the day. We look forward to the day when there will be no more shots. We trust the Lord to give us patience throughout this journey. He has been faithful! We are so thankful for family and friends who continue to pray for us. God bless you! She has a grade 4 glioma tumor.) Bev is forging full steam ahead! She's sailing swiftly through the uncharted waters. If there are large looming icebergs up-ahead out of sight, no matter, God is her copilot. He will help her steer clear of danger. He will provide safe passage! She finally has begun to experience a tiny bit of swelling again on the surgery site! Nothing too dramatic, but we know why!! And finally a few days ago the long awaited hair loss slowly started to begin. We are so grateful how well she has progressed to this point. She continues to exude joy and happiness! How could she be so upbeat? How could she be so fun, joyous, positive? GOD! With God everyday is a day to hope for the very best- to believe our prayers are being heard, to have faith good news is on its way, and to know that anything can happen between yesterday and tomorrow. The prayer pager is on the 3rd battery! If only a fraction of you are calling the pager, imagine the volume of prayers being said for Bev that go unregistered! WOW! Monday March 8th will mark Bev's half way point of treatments. We are praying for God to sustain her through these next 15 sessions! We are praying Bev can tolerate the next treatments as well or better than she has done the first half!! The second sessions on Friday afternoon can be a sobering reminder of what we are up against. To know your sweetheart has already had a previous radiation session a little more than 6 hours previous and accompany her for the second treatment causes me to pray and seek God's almighty rescue! God can do it!! We are so grateful for all the prayers, support, kind loving comments, etc. We are blessed!! Thank you! Becky's upper respiratory infection is healing but she is having esophageal complications. Sarah received some bad news. Stanford doesn't feel treatment is working, there is one tumor in particular that has had no change. Stanford also feels the results she received of no cancer cells in her lungs is inaccurate. The miracle in all of this is that she has been approved overnight to receive a new regiment drug to kill the tumors. She will also have at least four more chemo treatments. Pray...for healing...for God to touch her body...for emotional and spiritual strength. In a previous surgery they nicked her bowels and she almost died and it has taken three surgeries to repair the damage. They have decided to adopt but cannot be approved until she recovers from a complete hysterectomy. Her doctor from UCLA says it will be a long and difficult surgery.) Chrystie was released from UCLA and is at my home (her mom) in Bakersfield. Her recovery has been rapid...and we know why. We love to hear the pager as a reminder to us that God is always with us. Please continue to pray for her speedy recovery. Also, prayers of thanksgiving for the doctors and staff at UCLA for their God-given skill and exceptional care.
