Meet Matt Seadore

In what city did you make your formal debut?
Rock County, Nebraska

Where did you go to school?
I have bounced around like a pinball. I have studied at Bethany College of Missions and Iowa Western, and currently I am attending Fuller Theological Seminary.

For better or for worse, who knows you best?
My wife Lorna, who I have had the privilege of walking beside for almost 13 years, knows me best. Followed by my daughters Jaida and Brooklin.

Your favorite way to spend a day?
My ideal day starts with enjoying some ethically sourced, single orgin, small-scale farm coffee from Kenya, continues with reading a good book, and concludes by watching a college football game.

Julia Child’s in your kitchen….what’s your request?
Julia Child can not hold a candle to our weekly family tradition of Wednesday night pancakes. If you have a hard time believing that, I will invite you over some Wednesday so you can experience it yourself!

Speaking of dinner, if you could share a meal with anyone,
dead or alive… who would it be?
I would like to share a meal with Desmond Tutu so I could learn more about his theology of ubuntu and hear about what gave him the courage to help lead the Truth and Reconciliation Commission.

Your Favorite Books?
Red Letter Christians- Tony Campolo; No Future Without Forgiveness - Desmond Tutu; The Kite Runner - Khaled Hosseini; Common Prayer-A liturgy for ordinary radicals- Shane Claiborne and others

What’s on Your iPod?
Podcasts: Wait, Wait, Don't Tell Me; This American Life; Speaking of Religion.
Music: Calexico; Mat Kearney; Kirk Franklin; Dave Brubeck

How would you spend a Million Dollars?
I would start a number of micro-business opportunities for my friends in Kibera, Kenya, pay off my debt, and probably take my wife on a cruise.

What’s Your Guilty Pleasure:
Slow churned ice cream topped with Reese’s pieces.

What do you LOVE to do here at MVC?
I love challenging people to step out in ways that extend mercy and justice to a hurting world, and providing environments where that can happen.
